My ALS Journey: 5/n
As always, I’m pretty busy. I have given C++ classes, created a new mentoring program, and finished my ALS fundraising campaign. But this is not all.
Classes and Mentoring
Last week, I finished my previous C++20 class. What should I say? It was much fun.
Additionally, I finished my fourth mentoring program, “Concurrency with Modern C++“. This one will start in March 2024, and I will write a separate post about it. So, when you want to know more about concurrency, you know what to do. The final price is €1800, but in the first iteration, it is €1200.
- Next Friday, I will be a guest on CppCast and discuss the difference between teaching and mentoring.
- On February 21st, I will be a guest at Meeting C++ online, and you can Ask Me Anything: AMA.
My Health
Although my legs are powerful, my thoracic muscles and shoulders are weak. The result is that I can only walk a few steps. Consequently, I have had a wheelchair since Monday, and we went on our first excursion. It was very nice to be outside.
Thanks a lot, Beatrix. I know it is very exhausting to push myself up a mountain.
My New Passion
You know that I have done a lot of sports in the past. Sometimes up to 30/hours a week. For example, a typical week consists of 400 km by bicycle, 80 km running, and 15 km swimming. I reduced this to 2 hours of bicycling a day in the last years. I was also 15 years athletic trainer of the Rottenburg youth. Six of my youth athletes reached the German finals a few times, running between 800 m and 5000 m.
Now, I am searching for a new passion, and I found it. Her name is Luci, and she is 1/2-year-old and a bit shy.
ALS Fundraising Campaign: €9000
I’m proud to say that I can donate €9000 to the ALS research. Thanks a lot for all the supporters. I want to mention, in particular, the CppCon team and Jon Kalb. They participated in my campaign: Early Video Access Price Reduction and Bundle Offer!
I plan to do another ALS fundraising campaign in the future. If you want to participate or have any ideas, please get in touch with me (rainer[at]modernescpp.de). The following campaign should be more significant.
